Building, floor, room, bay — the rungs a [location tree](/sites/detail) is built from, shared across every site. ## Why one list A site describes itself once, in the words that fit its own plant — buildings, floors and production lines at one site, floors and rooms at the depot next door — and both draw from this same list. Locations themselves are not managed here: a location doesn't exist apart from its site, so it's added on the site's own screen. This is only the vocabulary. ## Columns | Column | Notes | | - | - | | **Type** | Name and code | | **Depth** | A hint about how far down the tree a rung usually sits — building is 1, floor is 2, room is 3. It sorts the list and offers a sensible next type in a picker; it enforces nothing | | **Used at** | Which sites actually have a location carrying this type — read from the locations themselves, not from a list anybody ticked | | **Locations** | How many locations carry this type, across every site | | **Active** | Retiring a type stops it being offered on new locations without touching existing ones | ## Adding a type **New type**, with a name, a code and an optional depth hint.
