An [inspection round](/maintenance/inspections) — a set of checks against a template — filled in from wherever the checks actually happen: an equipment room, a substation, a roof. ## Starting a round **Start a round**, from Home, asks for a subject first — an asset or a place, whichever the template is against — because a round needs one of those to exist at all. A round started here has no number and no questions until the server has processed the start: the questions are copied from the template at that moment, not before. A round begun in a basement isn't answerable in that basement until the next sync brings them down — the screen says so before you press the button rather than after. ## Answering Work through the items in order. Each takes a value — a measurement, a yes/no, or one of a list — and some demand a photograph or a signature before they'll accept an answer at all; the screen says which, before you're standing there without one. **Recording is not grading.** The row says "recorded" rather than showing a pass or fail, because pass and fail are decided on the server against the template's expected ranges and pass values, when the answer applies. A device that graded its own answers could tell you a round passed a moment before the server failed it — worse than no verdict at all on a compliance round.
