What priority a job gets automatically, by where it is, what class of asset it is against and

what kind of work it is — the rows api.preview_work_order_priority resolves for you.

Read them directly only to run the rule somewhere that preview cannot be called, such as a device working offline. A rule on a category covers everything beneath that category, so matching one means walking the class tree upward; the most specific match wins, and a type’s own default priority applies where nothing matches at all.
