Threads and their messages came down in the last sync and are read from the device — nothing here waits on a request. What you’re reading is as new as your last sync, and what you send sits in the outbox until the phone finds a signal, the same as any other queued action. The screen says both things rather than pretending you have a live conversation. A message you send is replayed safely however many times the queue retries it, and can still be refused for one reason: you were removed from the conversation while the phone had no signal.
